Types of Yoga – Sivananda

Sivananda yoga is a form of hatha yoga that emphasizes on maintaining the health and mental well-being of practitioners. It aims to retain vitality of body through five core principles that are asanas (physical movements), pranayama (breathing techniques), relaxation, balance diet, as well as meditation.

Sivananda involves 12 basic asanas (physical movements) that lasts approximately 90 minutes. It was founded by Swami Vishnu, a disciple of Swami Sivananda.
